$6.5 MILLION FOR BUILDING CAMPAIGN

  • $6.5 M in donations so far
  • Applying for Development and Building Permits at UBC
  • Target completion of the new building is 2021/2022

Carey Theological College has been on the campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC) since construction first broke ground in 1958. Our current site has two buildings and one empty gravel parking lot which has been the subject of much dreaming over the last 60 years. We launched a Building Campaign in October of 2018 to raise funds in order to build a new Christian residence and ministry centre. With God’s grace, the generosity of many donors, and the wide support of the whole Carey community, we are grateful to announce that we have received $6.5 M towards the campaign thus far.

The planned 5-storey building will be a home for up to 85 student residents as they work towards their degrees in various disciplines at UBC. The building will include more amenities to support our ministry of discipling future Christian leaders for the generations to come. In addition to increasing the number of UBC students in our Christian residence, the building generates revenue from short-term accommodation over the summer. This revenue will be used to provide scholarships for theological students in Western Canada and around the world.

In total, the Building Campaign is aiming to raise $15 M to reduce or eliminate the need for a mortgage. Please continue to pray for us as we move forward to raise the additional $8.5 M needed.
